With great formality and an atmosphere of optimism, the opening ceremony of HORECA 2026 took place in the presence of representatives from the political, business and institutional sectors of Tourism and Foodservice.

The ceremony was held on Friday in the C2 conference hall of the Metropolitan Expo, marking the official launch of this year’s event, which once again attracts the interest of thousands of industry professionals.

The first to take the stage was the CEO of NürnbergMesse, Mr. Peter Ottmann, who delivered a warm greeting. Following him, Ms. Aikaterini Spyridaki, Member of Parliament for PASOK, delivered her remarks, stating that foodservice and tourism are not merely two sectors of the economy—they are the country’s showcase, the first welcome and the first taste a visitor receives, shaping the experience they will carry with them when they leave.

The next speaker was Mr. Kostis Hatzidakis, Vice President of the Government and Member of Parliament for North Athens. He emphasized that HORECA is by definition a successful exhibition and a point of reference for the industry. The speakers collectively highlighted the significance of the exhibition and its decisive role in the ongoing development of the sector, stressing that HORECA remains one of the most important institutions for the Greek hospitality and foodservice market.
